The Blue Planet

Right, if you love nature this is for you, if you love sea life this is for you, I’m a big fan of sharks and love shark documentaries so decided to buy this box set, obviously with the knowledge of knowing David Attenborough is truly a legend.

If you are making an attempt to complete your David Attenborough experience, and have Life Of Birds, Life Of Mammals, Life In The Undergrowth, Life In Cold Blood etc, this is going to be titled Life Undersea. Covering everything from fish, to sea mammals, sea birds and molluscs, The Blue Planet is a classic in wildlife film-making.

It’s a powerful contender for my favourite nature series ever; related by David Attenborough, who never fails to measure up to expectancies, the filming is glorious, the depiction of underwater life is clear and superbly pretty. High points include The Deep, an episode devoted to the depths of the sea floor, the extremely moving segment including a pod of killer whales and a ma humpback and calf, as well a feeding fever which remains a vital moment for nature documentaries to hanker after.

A superb watch, but I would only recommend to people who are a big fan of this type of stuff and watch it on a regular basis, if your not really sure of it, it could be a waste of money, watch one online see what you think then maybe buy the whole thing.
